Her Royal Majesty?! Oh dear! as for Marbury.the titles a British peer has-if he is a hereditary peer – would all be courtesy titles while his father is alive and he is the oldest son. If his Mother is the curernt holder and is herself the only child of her parents then the same would apply-hope that's clear to all to you Yankee rebels! as a PS the current Queen is the first oldest daughter to become queen since Mary IIi (Victoria inherited following her uncle)Usually the oldest boy would get the throne and no daughter would inherit automatically-he law will change very soon but wont come into effect until at least george vii dies,
His Lordship stated in another episode that he was "John, Lord Marbury, Earl of Croy, Earl of Sherborne, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey".
I love that despite all the antagonism and arguing, in the end, no matter the situation, Aaron Sorkin lets his people come together, whether it's Leo and Lord John Marbury or Josh and Donna. He always, while maybe not having the happy ending, has the people in right relationships, which is partly why I love the seasons he wrote so much better than the ones he didn't.
"I have to see people in the order in which they arrive and you got beat by Argentina." "Oh, well, yes." That has to be the sneakiest Falklands War reference ever made.
I love the show, but it drives me nuts that The West Wing, which claims to be high-minded and internationally aware, can make such glaring errors in addressing the ambassador.
He should be addressed as 'Lord Marbury' or 'Your Lordship'. Officially, he would be known as 'John Marbury, the Baron Marbury'. Only if he was a knight of the realm would you refer to him by his first name ('Sir John').
It might seem quaint to some foreigners, but the British are rather proud of this sort of tradition!
R.I.P. Roger Rees, 1944-2015.
Sleep well Roger. And yes, I intend to post a similar sentiment on every Lord Marbury video I can find this morning. We'll miss you.
RIP Roger Rees: On "The West Wing."
Great Britain? The United Kingdom, surely?
This is the scene in which I best remember Roger Rees.
Beat by Argentina HaHAAAAAAAA!

British people are so smart except the black butler (Jeffery) from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air….
They totally bury it, but the "you got beat by Argentina" line, and his reaction, was one of the subtleties that made this show so great.
His Lordship stated in another episode that he was "John, Lord Marbury, Earl of Croy, Earl of Sherborne, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey".
the full title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary…
@aussiejed1 Absolutely. and the fact that Marbury teases him shows that he likes Leo very much.
That being his highest rank in the peerage, yes.
God Bless America
God Save the Queen
A Classic scene between "Gerald" and His Lordship
@jesusthroughmary and the point is?

There hasn't been a "Kingdom of Great Britain" since 1801.
Despite all the comments of his mental health, Lord John Marbury is a wise man, and a wise guy.
