Imagine if the Astros resigned him, the rotation from 2004-2006 would've been Roger Clemens, Randy Johnson, Roy Oswalt, Andy Pettitte, Brandon Backe. Dang that would've been one of the best in baseball. 2004 nl Cy young winner and runner up, 2005 era leader, and HOF class of 2015, maybe even would've gone in as an Astro. We could've won game seven of the 04 series and played the Red Sox, shoot. With his pitching maybe we would've won one of the 05 series games, forcing a game 5. Who knows what would've happened then? Maybe we could come back and win that series. Or win the 04 series against the Sox as well (assuming we would've beat the cardinals). One or maybe two World Series. Which means come 2011, as the Astros were struggling, Bud Selig would have no right to move us to the American League considering we would've won at least one maybe two World Series within the past 7 years. He would've either moved his precious Brewers (who've never won the Series) or the DiamondBacks (who at the time were only 13 years old and won 1 World Series back in 2001). We would've been moved to the National League west (we're we belong) and would be playing teams like the Padres dodgers Giants and Rockies. Not to mention we could've potentially made the playoffs in 06 as well because we were only a couple games behind the cardinals at the time, the big unit coudlve given us the couple wins we needed to get us to the playoffs. And who knows what would've happened then? He could've retired as an Astro and gone into the HOF as an Astro. We would've had two HOFers going in this year, Biggio and Johnson. Again, this is only hypothetical. Only if it were true….

Man, if he would have stayed with the Astros, I would have loved to see him pitch with Roy Oswalt :( GO ASTROS and I miss The Big Unit!

He really made the Pirates looks silly….oh wait that was one of the years that they didn't make playoffs or a winning record! Coming from a Pirates fan. I wasn't really a fan back then, 2011 is when I really got into baseball and the Pirates are my favorite team.

I loved how he patted Brad Ausmus' head at the end….jesus, he makes him look like a kid! and I firmly believe if the Astros had signed Johnson after the season, they would've won a WS.

I was at this game, up in the right field upper deck. That stadium was electric that day. The city was buzzing after we got our shiny new toy, the BIG UNIT. Astros really ran cold in the late '90s in the playoff runs. Bats dried up and we saw some really great pitchers, like Kevin Brown and of course the Big Three from Atlanta. Those late 90s teams were a lot of fun, though.

Randy Johnson was a great pitcher but I think its safe to say the ump gave him an extra 6 inches on both sides of the plate.
