"The flag is apart of the Tradition of our people" so the traditions in the south are that of rebellion and treason against america?

Lets just pretend like the confederacy flag isn't a flag of slave owners (some people like to pretend it isn't, and they're wrong but what ever) Its a fucking rebel flag those are people that wanted to break from the US to keep their slave. How the fuck is that flying over a government building? How is it patriotic to fly a flag of people that didn't want to be a part of the US anymore?

They are fucking rebels. And please don't come at me with "Oh its history" do you see Germans flying the Nazi flag over their government buildings saying "well its history"? The confederacy lost and you can't own slaves, get the fuck over it

In other news, every TV station in South Carolina has signed contracts to ensure the "Dukes of Hazzard" remains in syndication until the year 2099.

Flying the Confederate Battle Standard (it wasn't the "Confederate Flag" which represented the Confederacy) should be a personal affair and not flown at a state capital under the federal government. That flag had been carried into battle against the United States and the side which carried it, lost. While some claim the flag simply represents heritage, it had been created specifically in 1861 to be used against the US in order to be able to continue slavery. Afterwards it was used by the KKK to spread fear and terror. To have had it flying on state capitol grounds sent a very mixed message especially as that tradition only started suspiciously during the Civil Rights Movement.

Keep the "Confederate Flag" on your belt buckles, truck decals, dodge chargers, t-shirts, and Civil War re-enactments, etc… I can appreciate the cultural significance the "Confederate Flag" has in the private sector. After all, it was the "Confederate Flag" which gave the General Lee the power to jump over wide creeks and gullies to escape Boss Hogg and get the moonshine to Uncle Jesse. But again, it has no business whatsoever being near government property.

And as a Southerner, to my fellow Southerners who won't let it go that we lost 150 years ago may I remind them that Southern Victory in the Civil War or the War Between the States if you prefer (or the War of Northern Aggression for those who really can't let it go) would have eventually destroyed Southern culture as it would have deprived future generations of southerners the joy of sitting around the potbelly stove sipping shine and eating moon pies whilst fiercely debating that "…if only General What's-his-name had turned left at the Battle of Whereverville, then the South would have won the war!"

Caring about what FOX News says is like caring what Hitler says. Obama is such a spineless coward.
The only people who are mad about this are the racists period. Nikki Haley is one of those racists.

You know which enemy killed the most American soldiers in America's history? Not the Nazis, not the communists in the Korean & Vietnam wars, not the Al-Qaeda terrorists, it was the fucking redneck hilly billy confederates AKA traitors.

Politicians don't seem to realize they seem extremely untrustworthy when they speak as politicians and not as people.

America is an idea. The Confederacy were fighting for their own idea of America one where states rule themselves not by some asshole in a fancy house that bought his way into a position of power.
