I have such a powerful love for Almost Famous. It's one of my all time favorite movies that I hold dear to my heart. There's just so much heart and so much passion and energy put into every frame and scene. The music still gives me chills. I still lose itevery timeI hear "Fever Dog." All the actors kill it, especially Kate as Penny Lane. Good Lord Penny was my first movie crush and still is one of my favorite female characters. I loved her to death my first time watching this instant classic and I still do. That scene where she dances in the gym made the audience instantly love her. Crowe's screenplay is one of my favorites as well.

Thank you Cameron Crowe for making an unbelievably moving and perfect film.

Congrats again to gorgeous Kate Hudson (wasn't she cute back then^^). Did Cruise seriously open the envelope before at least announcing the names?! There was his focus that night^^ :-D

That was before Hollywood marked her down as a trashy romantic comedy girl! How sweet and talented she was when she was younger! I miss her starring in really good movies apart from all the hundreds of cliché-ridden feel good movies!

One of my favorite actresses. One of my favorite movies. One of my favorite performances. One of my favorite film characters. So with that said, deserved Oscar by far.

I know it's just easier for her to be in all of these Rom Coms, but clearly she had/has the talent to be in great films. It's a pity she did nothing with this acclaim other than be in crappy Rom Coms and generally not-so-great or largely unseen thrillers.

she was so robbed at the Oscars! She really deserves that award, I mean, everybody who has seen Almost Famous will always remember Penny Lane, it's such an unforguettable and unique performance thanks to Kate, she made Penny into such a fascinating character

I wonder when she'll start making good movies again. No offense but she's an actress of worth and the films she chooses debase her tremendously.

I know Kate was the favorite to win the Oscar and that a lot of it was due to having all these showbiz connections because of her mom, but I'm pretty sure more people remember Penny Lane than whoever Marcia Gay Harden played in Pollock. It was a stellar performance and she was completely robbed of an Oscar. I'm crossing my fingers everyday now for a career revival. Someone needs to get that girl a new agent or something!

@20postit i guess i mean before gossip blogs and celebrity magazines really blew up and there was a sort of mystery and reverence for hollywood and actors. pre-paris hilton, pre-kardashians, etc.
