Yes you are right ; that scream is annoying (BY DESIGN!!!!!) IT'S DESIGNED TO ANNOY THE OPPONENT. Sharapova gets a free pass for hindrance. She's got every trick in the book in order to gain an edge. If you notice carefully, she continues the scream well after she hits the ball. She stares down the linesmen when they make a call against her. She stares down the Chair Umpire for the same reasons. She does that Shadow Boxing routine with her racket before her opponent serves. She moves from left to right during an opponents serving toss. She turns her back to her opponent after each point. She goes to the locker room for extended breaks in order to get her opponent thinking about that gamesmanship instead of the match (but that's done only when she feels the match is slipping away. (FRENCH OPEN 2014). And if all of that fails, then she goes into her little girl ; I'm so sad routine. It's all very effective. There is one player on the planet who learned from her first Wimbledon final loss to her many years ago that it's all phony gamesmanship. Serena now imitates her: not to flatter her, but to let her know that she's onto her phony games. Everyone else is blinded by her beauty: Announcers, Chair Umpires, Players and Fans. They just love her. And she is a beauty. Why is it that we are so vulnerable to physically beautiful people with a winning smile. Yes she's a very good tennis player but unsportsmanlike in her behavior on the court. Check out her next match and see if I'm right or wrong.
