I'm glad I watched this game especially because the news came out that Rickey Bell died. I remember when he ran at USC and found out later that he used the beaches of southern California to train in combat boots to toughen his hamstring and calf muscles. He died too young.

Ah, Richard Todd. More erratic than a jumping bean. Stabler had a decent run in '83 but it should have been Wilson's team all along. Never found out what Wilson had in the tank. And the RB situation was comical with an aging Campbell brought in when we already had Rogers. But the Dome Patrol was born under Bum. This wasn't quite as dominating a game as the unit had later in the decade, but the D helped set up this win, the teams' first ever on MNF.
