This video has "1,585 likes" versus "111 dislikes." The people of the world are not stupid. Thousands of people watch this video weekly from all around the world. White and black… Dominican and Non-Dominican. If what was being said in the video was not true then it wouldn't have the amount of likes versus dislikes that it does. Read these comments and see the thousands of people that have had personal experiences with this topic. I know the truth hurts. I don't care about your agendas. Don't give me that we don't see color shit because many discoteques in la capital won't let you in if you are black (Dark) UNLESS you David Ortiz or some celebrity. There were just as many Tainos and Arawaks in Jamaica but you see them show love to Haille Sellasie, AFRICA. They mixed too! Yeah DR is mixed and so is the USA. We all mixed now what?

Came across this video on youtube. I have seen many instances of people who are Rican or Dominican denying their blackness. Its kinda cool to see the opposite.

I DON't UNDERSTAND YOUR FEELINGS FOR THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC OR YOUR ALLEGED DOMINICAN DESCEND, I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE REASON WHY YOU LIVE HERE OR HOW YOU FEEL DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEART ABOUT THIS COUNTRY AND ITS PEOPLE, FOR ALL I KNOW IT SEEMS TO ME LIKE YOU COULDN'T REALLY FIND YOURSELF LIVING IN SUCH A PRISON, RACIST AND FURTHERMORE SEGREGATED COUNTRY AS THE UNITED STATES…JUST A THEORY NOT PROVEN BUT HERE IS WHAT I KNOW FOR SURE:

YOU ARE NOT DOMINICAN!! THESE DAYS A DOMINICAN IS NOT NECESSARILY HE WHO LIVES IN D.R. OR HAS DOMINICAN CITIZENSHIP, YOU STRIKE AS ONE MORE FRUSTRATED PERSON WITH POSSIBLE DOMINICAN PARENTS WHO HAPPENS TO LIVE IN D.R. (OR AT LEAST COMES VERY OFTEN) AND EVEN IF YOU WERE BORN HERE…….YOU'RE NOT HELPING THE SITUATION THAT US DOMINICANS WHO CARE ABOUT THE PIECE OF LAND CALLED DOMINICAN REPUBLIC ARE GOING THROUGH THESE DAYS, EVEN THOSE WHO LIVE ABROAD OR TRAVEL TO OTHER COUNTRIES,) AND SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH YOU PROBABLY DID IT JUST TO CONTINUE BUILDING YOUR EMPIRE OR FUTURE WITH YOUR BUSINESS (BTW, VERY MEDIOCRE APPROACH TO ADVERTISE YOUR AFFILIATED WEBSITES AND/OR PRODUCTS EVEN IF YOU'RE A MILLIONAIRE BY NOW) BY NAMING THE VIDEO WITH A TITLE THAT IMPLIES HATE AND/OR NEGLECT. TRUE YOU HAD SOME MOMENTS IN WHICH YOU MADE SENSE, I SAW YOUR VIDEO TWICE AND ANALYZED IT VERY WELL AND TRUE YOU'RE SEEMINGLY EDUCATED AND WELL MANNERED, BUT HAVE YOU CONSIDERED WHAT TYPE OF MESSAGE THE CONTENTS OF THIS VIDEO SENDS TO THE WORLD? BETTER YET, TO HAITIANS ?? I DON'T THINK YOU THOUGHT ABOUT IT, I THINK IF THERE'S ANY DOMINICAN IN YOU….YOU WOULD'VE THOUGHT TWICE BEFORE TITLING THE VIDEO AND SPEAKING SOME OF THIS THINGS YOU SPOKE ABOUT OUT LOUD FOR THE WORLD, AND ON TOP OF THAT TO BE PROUD OF IT AS A MEDAL, BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT OPINIONS. I JUST PRAY, THAT AT SOME POINT PEOPLE LIKE YOU REALLY THOUGHT TWICE BEFORE POSTING VIDEOS THAT SEEMINGLY ARE JUST FILLED WITH OPINIONS BUT HAVE HUGE IMPACT ON SITUATIONS LIKE THE ONE US DOMINICAN PEOPLE ARE GOING THROUGH RIGHT THESE DAYS. WATCH DOMINICAN NEWS MUCH?

enough with the myth that we Dominican's think we are white. We celebrate and love that we are a true mix of Taino, Europe and mother Africa. It's in all our books, in our music and our food. Go to el Cibao and you will see the mestizos that survived the bloody spanish conquest and the murderous invasions of Dessalines.
The DR is heavily imbued with Africa, but we do not deny the other portions of our heritage. Why should we, to make HAitians or other blacks happy?
    Please……

I am Dominican. Not white, not black, not taino, not African, not European. I'm Dominican point blank. I do not wish to be considered anything else that some guy 300 years ago represented. My mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, great grand mother and great grand father are all Dominican. We do not have an identity crisis like the black Americans do. We know who we are and are proud of it.

African Americans, stay the hell out of the Caribbean. Dominicans and Cubans are largely mixed race people; mixed with African, native islander; Spanish etc. They dont DEFINE themselves by race, they define themselves by nationality. The stigma is attached to African Americans. Why? Wonder why…. Quit trying to teach the Dominican people to divide and classify themselves based on race like America. And African Americans complain about the race situation in the US? its because of the over emphasis on "blood", "genetics", "race" – so dont try do it in the DR.

I was born in America, however I am Dominican because my parents and their parents and so on are from Dominican Republic. My family has been there for generations and my house has a great Dominican influence. Now when you look deeper at what that means, to be "Dominican", for me it means I am a mix of African, Taino indian, and Spanish descent. Everyone from Latin America and the Carribean has to know they are mixed. I am proud to be a Dominican American, and to have African, Taino Indian, and Spanish ancestry.

Dominicans are Hispanic they aren't "black" like Haiti or Jamaica.
They were ruled by the Spanish and have adopted the Spanish language and culture (they got mad good rhythm and music)

Yes, there are some Dominicans with African ancestry that being said they're still Hispanic for being born in the Dominican Republic.
Before some of you who don't understand start talking smack let me explain real quick.

Being Hispanic isn't a race it's an ethnicity there are plenty of white (European descent) Black (African or South American Native descent) and the most commonly Brown (Native American descent) there's even Asian Hispanics such as the Filipinos and Argentines.

I get that you're trying to teach them where their ancestry is from but the fact is they were born and raised as Dominicans, they don't view themselves as "black" or "African" because they really aren't their culture is completely different and they live in the DR not where their ancestors came from.

First I would like to say that Republica Dominicana is one of my favorite places in the worldto visit. Thecitizens of DR are very nice and fun loving people. I am a very white colored European descendent American. I hate to say this but I do not findthe black people in America (African Americans) very pleasant to be around. There is too much racial bad blood here and I am looked at with automatic suspicion because I'm white. I do not experience that in Dominican Republic. I feel very welcomed by Dominicans and love to bein their company. I think Dominican Americans don't associate with being "black" cause they don't want to be identified with African American Culture.

Dominicans Cubans Ricans were considered black. In 1973 they Gave them the term Hispanic to divide them from black because they are Lighter than us..and Dominicans fell right into their trap…that's a shame to y'all let the white man divide u from your own damn heritage

Dominicans are multiracial….not black….just because you have black blood doesnt mean you are black….you are mixed…mixed is not black…its is own race….

in your case you are black since you have like almost 99% black look….

when a black person and white person have a baby.. that baby has a new color…its own race.

..that baby is neither black or white…it is its own race!

and i dont like your american rubbish and segregation way of thinking…..the dominican republic is all one. dont do this to my country!

Every person is different and because of the diversity of our cultures and backgrounds people feel more connected to one side of their race than others and it has nothing to do with skin color. Me being from Puerto Rico we are taught that we are all one race. So people of every skin color see themselves as equal because we are all Puerto Ricans. Why in the U.S. people only talk about African -Americans as one race and White people as another race instead of all being Americans?
