I like how Fox originally used the onscreen scoreboard. It's on occasionally & doesn't interfere with the broadcast. Nowadays, it's so damn intrusive along with the stupid "bottom line" crap…every channel for every sport is guilty of this now. Sometimes less is more.

The worst day ever for Steve Young. the whole city of San Francisco was against him. and he took the worst beating that I ever seen a QB take. the only time you would ever seen the fans root for the opposing teams QB. that being Joe Montana.

Good game, esp. by the Chiefs' defense. Thomas was a beast. Again, the 49ers have the turnover bug under Young. That was a big factor in their NFC title game losses to Dallas in the 90's.

"This reminds me of when Johnny Unitas finished his career with the San Diego Chargers after departing from the Baltimore Colts."

Really? Because Johnny U was terrible in San Diego. Joe was still good in Kansas City.

This game and the Eagles game fueled Steve Young to overcome adversity and went on to play one of the best seasons a Quarterback ever played.

Just think also that Montana (other than Marcus Allen) did not really have any superstars on offense, but made up for it with a strong O-Line.

These were the same 49ers who broke the bank to sign big name free agents Deion Sanders, Ken Norton Jr, Gary Plummer, Ricky Jackson and Tim McDonald, because they couldn't get past the Dallas Cowboys, prior to 1994. They also picked up Charles Mann and Richard Dent. This was a big regular season game, because they had fielded a big name super bowl team.

Imagine if Roger Staubach had played against the Cowboys in 1980, or if Terry Bradshaw had played against the Steelers in 1984. A lot of 49ers fans must have been experiencing the same conflicting emotions seeing Montana as the opposing quarterback in this game that Cowboys fans and Steelers fans would have experienced seeing Staubach and Bradshaw, respectfully, as opposing quarterbacks. Who does one root for in that situation?

None should labor under the delusion that Steve Young has a rightful place in any conversation involving the FINEST QB THIS GAME HAS EVER SEEN. My words? Hardly. Those were the words of none other than John Madden at Joe's retirement in San Francisco. In the future, the Young fans should not violate the unyielding code of silence during mention of THE GREAT ONE. Please, no use of the backup quarterback's name in the same sentence with …. JOE MONTANA.
