There's nothing tough about Austin Dillon. He was wearing all necessary safety gear and he was VERY lucky. Get over it.

why did jesus save his life and not all the others that died over the years? Jesus does not care about nascar, or rappers or football, so STOP thanking him.

He got lucky. If the car would have hit roof side against that fence he would be dead. It would have sheered the roof off and taken his head with it. And to think that people bitch about this sport being "too safe." If this crash happened back in 92 he'd be dead and dozens of fans would be dead. This is the most violent crash I've ever seen a driver walk away from unscathed. In terms of somebody surviving a horrific crash, the worst was Geoffrey Bodine back in 2000 during the Daytona 250 Truck Series. I saw that live with my father watching. He was convinced that Geoff was dead during those moments were you see nothing but his role cage and seat being clobbered by oncoming cars. I myself agreed. Thankfully, he wasn't.

I didn't see the 3 hit the catch fence, but when they showed it upside down it scared the crap out of me

Austin came to a complete stop! From somewhere around 190 mph to a complete stop. Did a lil research and found that a vehicle stopping from 180 mph to 0 mph in about 70 milliseconds, the car will absorb 120,000 pounds of force! Thats around 60 g's! All I got to say is "tough kid", to walk away like that. Would love to see a complete write up on how much energy was involved in this crash and the amount of force Austin's body went through.

as much as they like to talk about driving around in a circle being a "sport," this is the real reason NASCAR fans go to races
these idiots are willing to spend $100's to sit there and hope for a wreck
NASCAR knows this, that is why they stage these fake wrecks
it's moronic to spend all that money for something you can see on a highway for free
