You honestly believe the government? Seriously? Your strongest validification for this recall is the government said so…
Where are your sources for those numbers of deaths? What's the time span on them? And are the multiple variables in them I don't know about? And depending on the time from, 51 deaths is minuscule and usually has little effect on something like this.

What scares me is I have many friends with Jeeps and many in my 4×4 club with newer jeeps (Xj's) the one shown is a grand and I never liked them at all now I know why…Other then I am against Chrysler almost as much as Chevrolet, but for different reasons…at least it WAS for different reasons…

Thanks bruh. I have the 2001 Grand Cherokee limited 2wd I think. I've had it 3.5 years and only put 28,000 miles on it. Thanks for the advice, I will act accordingly. Where can I get a heavier bumper? I thought about putting a big trailer hitch back there. Would that help you think?

Actually, according to Chrysler, there is no sufficient evidence that these fires are common and are a concern. You should do some more research before making these claims. And the decision of a company to recall a vehicle wasn't the question in store. You were inferring that Japanese cars are safer because they don't have these problems. When in reality, that's completely false. The rest of your comment is hard to understand but the little I did understand was too idiotic for a response.

For a person who just finished paying off a 2001 Jeep, and using this as my family car, I'm pretty effin concerned….

I got an idea how about everyone that is bitching about go out buy a skid plate or move the tank location. there are many things you can do.

also how can you not get out of a car in 25 seconds or get your kids out?

you're shit. jeeps are great you have no idea what you talking about.

soft suspension? they have a nice ride I know that. awful mileage they're big cars you idiot, off roaders. but still not as bad as Toyota land cruisers or V8s and V8 off roaders.

people need to stop bitching and buy a skid plate or something and not wait for Chrysler to do something.

They said the study was done by engineering students (not experts) and they show a PT Cruiser at 1:37 (wrong vehicle). This is not a good sign of having the facts straight. Don't forget the public apology that NBC 60 Minutes was forced to air because they didn't report the facts correctly in the GM 1993 fuel tank recall.

Its not boxy. Its the more rounded one. But honestly, I'm looking at breaking down and getting another car note. I just read a court document about a child who burned up in the cherokee here in georgia last year. it was struck from behind at a red light and people witnessed the child screaming until his death.

I wish Ford would have done a recall on all of those shitty Tauruses (2000-2007). Transmissions that were just beyond unreliable.
