It will be a sad day if the steroid cheaters get in before Rose. I don't care if he gambled. He never cheated the game.

I'm the biggest baseball so forgive me for my ignorance but did Pete Rose just bet on games or did he throw games as well, because if he bet on games in which he played but was betting that his team would win and also cover the spread then yes he should've received possibly a 10yr ban or maybe even 20 only way he should have a lifetime ban is if he was throwing games to make his money and even then that's a little harsh

Yes he should, but the voters will not vote him in if he is reinstated. The only way he gets inis if the Commish reinstates himthen goes completely over the voters heads and just lets him in. So basically u dont bet on baseball but u can use steroidsand still have a chance to get in???? Hmmmmm aren't they both considered cheating the game? At least make it fair plenty of people have done far worse than him over the years in baseball for example Pineada with the chemical on his hands he was deliberately trying to cheat the game and got caught why isnt he banned? Anywho goodluck Pete u will get in one day, sadly it will probably be after your dead forit to happen.

We've let wife beaters, alcoholics and hot headed crazy people in the HOF.

But Pete Rose is not in the hall of fame still.

    Yep, that sounds about right.

i'm with stephen a. as well. leaving him out of the hall of fame, in my mind, cheapens the hall of fame. how can you leave him out, with the numbers he produced? remove the player from the individual.

Why is Stephen A pretending like Pete Rose is suffering in a jail cell somewhere? Chill, he broke the rules of a sport time and time again, he should be banned. Using active players who have also broken the rules and should also be banned as a reason why he should be accepted again is self defeating.

Performance enhancing drugs is not as serious as betting on the game of baseball. Betting on the game of baseball threatens to bring the entire league down. It's analogous to a guy selling military secrets to the Chinese or the Russians. I can forgive a guy who robs a bank but I'll never forgive a guy who sells military secrets to a foreign entity which threatens our entire country.

SAS is talking about forgiveness for guys like A-Rod and McGwire, but what the Rose suspension comes down to is the hall of fame. And none of those men will ever make the hall. A-Rod and others took roids and their penalty will be no admittance to the hall of fame. Rose bet on baseball and hurt the integrity of the game. So Rose penalty means no HOF either. Pretty simple..

Idk much about baseball but did he bet on his team to lose? Bc if he bet on his team to win, what's the problem? I mean I see the problem but is it that bad? When A-Rod and Braun are playing right now, seems dumb to me.

Skip you said the Black Soxs aren't in your mental hall of game, we'll who cares they are in the Hall. Pete Rose deserves to be in there strictly based off his production on the field.

The Hall of Fame is a museum to the history of the game. The greatest hitter of the modern era has to be there.
