Frankly, given the failure of GowJ – this would be a highly inopportune moment to engage a radical narrative eg spaceships, large spans of time, or new characters. Gears needs to return to its roots and save the far reaches of imagination for a time when the community retains more confidence in the series and is thus better prepared to handle change.

After his sleep he wakes up and finds out that humanity has rebuilt and has its population back in the billions…at this timetheSerans have successfully entered space and have colonised new planets…that soon later awoke a new race of Locust, and so the terror starts again but this time a brand new enemy emerges out of nowhere known as the Termite Legion Empire(A Roman themed species that have conquered many different alien worlds) that have a more advanced space technology than the humans of Sera.
Marcus Fenix is later reunited with theSerans that have later formed a new military organization known as Coalition of Ordered Governments the Second.
It all kicks of in thetriple threat war between COG the Second, New Locust Horde under command of the newly crowned Locust king and also the new enemy, The Termite Legion Empire.
So in gears 3 we know humanity was on the brink of extinction and the locust were wiped out with the emp thingy. ( devs didnt really leave much room for a sequel)
Gears 4 could start off as a prequel to the gears saga starting from the pendulem wars, learn more about marcus eg how he knows tai and fight some UIR who were at war with the cog.
The story could then Go more into emergence day were everything went to shit. And then go into how those events effect the future ( gears 4 ). The Kantus werent shown to be effected by the emp thingy, so maybe they could revive the locust horde. Mean while the management of the new cog army develops clones to rebuild the cog army ( as the world was in the brink of extinction) Jacinto and most the earth is rebuilt , whilst marcus and the old cog army are imprisoned for their actions on azura ( the secret research facility ). The rest of the old cog are abandoned eg Anvil gate holdout.
Prescott isnt dead ( recovered by new cog ). He makes sure delta team are sentenced to imprisonment in a high guard prison what i call " LIMBO Penitentiary " because they left him to die. Prescott also promoted to CEO and awarded for his bravery – his lies ( the CEO is head of the management committee and reports to the board of the directors. I think president and CEO are the same thing ).. Prescott sees to it that New weaponry, Missiles and improvements to hammer of dawn and cog armor are taken forward to protect the NEW ORDERS interests.
The old cog imprisoned in Limbo penitentiary, where they undergo hard labour ( Explains how they stay built over time ) New war breaks out. The Thousands of old cog including delta team plan to escape LIMBO. New War breaks out as the locust horde attack the new order labour camps, whilst the hordes of inmates from limbo have forced their way out through a bloodbath. Leaving the new order to battle out against the locust. the old cog flee Limbo camps on a cargo train on amongst the Imulsion pipe lines and seek help through old cog army at Anvil gate and stranded and plan to take out Prescott. ( imulsion still in use after emulsifier cleanser created, some areas still infected.)
I think this would be a great Gears of war 4 game opening. New enemies, new guns, locust are back, bad ass story.
A time skip would be nice of about 150years…that way Gears can get a good start…so we can see a gradual effect of new becoming old and rundown in cities and towns. So the characters can have some history to look back on facing a new threat to their known world.
Locusts are not dead . If you watch the cutscene with Adam talking to Marcus he says his machine will kill the lambent but it will "harm" the locusts meaning not killing them but hurting them
I think a gears of war: E-day trilogy would be interesting. Set the games right when the locust war started and have where it shows how all the gears met and how Marcus ended up in prison
fuck the story, it was awesome but its done. They didn't even really leave room for a sequel. Make gears 4 the next big 3rd person arena shooter that its been the champion of since the beginning, hell go the safe route and make a remastered version of all 3 games. That would make me go get an xb1 in a heart beat. gears 1 was my life in middle school, omg the online experience blew my mind and I need that in my life again. If they change any of the mechanics of the game like they did in judgment they will trash the game forever. If they decide to make a new gears then get back to the gory roots that set gears apart from other games, from the sliding, to the gnasher wars, and head exploding popshots with a longshot. Not the shell shaded bullshit in judgment and dont even touch character movement/mechanics they are perfect as of gears 3. What they did to gears with judgment is unforgivable.
The gears of war plot I wish for: Have two story lines.one a prequel and another after GOW3.the prequel storyline has a new main character which will be featured in the second one.In the prequel the main character has some characters we don't see much,like Tai,Anthony Carmine or maybe even Samantha Byrne.The team has to defend their outpost after the COG headquarters falls and they're cornered.This leads them into defending the outpost.The rest is up to them. The second storyline is starts a few years after the ending of GOW3.Everything went down and the COG is no longer the COG.Everyone took sides and fought for resources thinning the existence of human kind.It gets worse when the locust start to appear.Everyone is savaging supplies and fighting for their lives.The groups in this world are the Stranded,The Savages(which are the stranded but only they're like animals.),The Rebels(Which are the people who separated from the COG including Delta squad),The COG,The New Locust(which are leaded by the Locust king),and The old Locust(which are the savage locust which stick to the old times and fight against the new locust).The team from the first storyline teams up with Delta squad to stop the madness across sera.
Id rather it be a Time Jump then a Time Skip. I just feel Skipping is out of place in the Gears series. But its nice to think of two Locust holding hands skipping down teh street.
I believe gears of war 4 will be a direct sequel spanning 10-15 years after gears 3. Where both humans and locust repopulate. The locust leader is the son of queen myrrah and adam fenix ;D. And i believe it will feature the children of the cog that will grow through gears 5 and 6.

If there is a sequel, there will absolutely have to be a time skip. Too low of population, and not enough resources to fight another horde
