no ticket before show hang in by myself, dosed on sum real good liquid from an old friend ,can't talk or communicate , guy hands me a ticket and the rest is history….
I may have mentioned this before but this show you can really see it best, This was when Jerry started to use the ROLAND GR-2 MIDI P/U to split the sound from clean to midi sounds…he was just messing with it here but when Doug built The first guitar for him it was installed into the body and hooked up to the knobs. This is where the Sax, Flute and all came from. I was looking at the GR-3 and MIDI board but WOW I don't have that kind of ready cash. However Jerry did things a bit different then most as you know he split the two into a, well circle I guess, It's have for a novice like me to explain. However you can see him going to the rack and making changes because it was before Doug put it all in the guitar for him and he used a foot control to turn it on and off.
I JUST THOUGHT I'D SHARE SOME FRANK ZAPPA LYRIC'S FOR YA'S….And I do Really appreciate the DEAD, just not when PHISH is involved, you see. Rhonda: Harry! harry, is that you as a boy? Harry: Why, it must be! he's so charming and sweet and likeable! Thing-fish: Harry-as-a-boy, c'mon over 'n say a few words to de nice peoples! Harry-as-a-boy: Hi, folks! nice to be here! Thing-fish: I's sure dere be lotsa folks like to know what yo' plans are…how y'intend t'be gwine about dis uncredibly serious bidniss o' growin' up in ermerica! Harry-as-a-boy: Well, I plan on making a few mistakes, having my heart broken and so forth, using all kinds of drugs, and turning gay as soon as possible in order to accelerate my rise to the 'top of the heap'. Thing-fish: Ahh! tremenjous, harry-as-a-boy, simply tre- menjous! you practicin' up fo it wit anybody in po-ticlar now? Harry-as-a-boy: I can't afford to study with anyone yet, since the bulk of my allowance goes for glue and grateful dead tickets, but soon I hope to be on my knees in a real homo bath house…maybe when my folks N vacation
Funny how tuned in Deadheads are to the gear and such just to look back – at anything and realize its all just flash in the pan temporary. But do hold on to this music, it is so very much better than the commercial grade crap of the past and especially the present.
Bobby seems a little out of it throughout this one. His vocals are not prime, even when considering there are no effects on his vox with this particular mix. His guitar is turned WAY down throughout. He resorts to theatrics trying to fire up the show. Jerry is solid from top to bottom and Brent is ripping it up as always.
I believe Wolf was used so that Rosebud and later Tiger could have some upgrades/repairs/modifications. Bobby is absent from this soundboard mix and Phil is dreadfully low in the mix. If I remember correctly, Jerry was using Wolf when I saw the band in Miami later that month. In fact, I think he played Wolf for the rest of the year.
listening to the soundboard version of this show- you can hear Bobby loud and clear – audio on this video is not from the soundboard — maybe half a stereo mix — or a monitor/earpiece feed…
hutch..u have to listen carefully and get tuned into bobby guitar..not always easy to hear because its called rhythm..i would like it higher in the mix also. u really are listening when u listen to bobby..peace

Love the Dead, but didn't really dig the pro GMO commercial beforehand. GMO's are dangerous. Rant over…Rock on Jerry!

Is it me … or is that a really short first set? I was at this show and it seemed significantly longer at the time. Excellent "Let It Grow"
