France was the better team on the field.
But once it went to penalty kicks I had feeling Germany was going to win.

France was definitely the better Team overall but my god the conversion of chances was just bad and they could have won this easily against Germany with their weakest Performance yet. The Penalty call isjustifiable in my opinion because her whole arm is sticking out normally you would try to hold them close to your body so the referee thinks you didn't try to deliberately block the ball with your arm. The German Team was very lucky to make it through to the semi finals but sometimes all you need is luck to win an important match.

shades of the 1982 world cup semi-final between france vs west germany. the french were better but the germans took it in the end because they held their nerve in pk's. germany shouldn't have got a penalty as it was ball to hand. would've liked to have seen the french go on to the semi's.

While I understand that a handball is in the box for a penalty is something of a grey area and a sensitive subject, I'm pretty sure when your fully outstretched arm blocks a cross, the ref has to call handball, and since it was in the box…clear penalty,

so lets stop acting like the ref cost france the game. not finishing chances and letting a German Squad take them to Penalties cost France the game ;)

It's one those matches that after the game you just hate football. The much better team loses, thanks to a awful referee. Germany got an early Christmas gift from the referee and could hold on and win the penalty shoot out. I've cheered the German women team for a long time but today France was at least 2 classes better and deserved to win. But as we all know football is not fair and a mediocre Germany won. A bad day for football.

First of all, the penalty awarded to the germans in the second half, was not a penalty. The referee left a lot to be desired.
The substitutions in the 70th minute, killed the french team's game.
The moment the french coach substituted Elodie Thomis and brought in Claire Lavogez, i definitely knew that the french team were going to lose the game. Claire Lavogez changed the game completely and made the french team so weak all of a sudden, because she came in as a midfielder 'defender' and not like Thomis who keeps the pace up front. Claire is also the lady who missed the final penalty.
The french also substituted Delie, and brought up Thiney. Thiney missed a 2-1 possible lead in the extra time. I think the substitutions killed the game and messed up with the whole game.

Best two teams in the tournament for me. This should have been the final or semi at least. I love the U.S. but our finishing is dreadful.

The French ladies did not deserve to go out like that, they were easily the best team of the tournament and it was such a pleasure to watch their champagne football, but there really is no excuse in their inability to finish those clear goal scoring chances after dominating the whole game.

It's been a pleasure watching Henry, Necib and Le Sommer play :(

Felt SOOO bad for France here. They dominated nearly the whole match. Germany played terribly. The only thing I can say against France is that they DID miss many huge opportunities, so meh.

Congratulations to the german team but I feel so bad for the french players. These are the worst types of losses. Where you dominate and have more chances but still lose. Ouch.
