I've been fishing at a slough lately in the bay area. The last few times I went I have had a hand full of bites, but I couldn't hook them. One time my pole almost went in the water and still missed it.

Question, I fish in the area down below the falls in the Milwaukie area, near the golf course. I was wondering if you guys have a lot of success down in this area for oversize in the winter months all the way through to June. I have done what Charley does a lot with his shad and lines, finding the deep holes and all of that. I manage to catch one to two oversize fish a day, but I am not catching 7-10 oversize a day which I want. Plus finding a more stable and faster bite would also help. Is it timing of when the fish move back into the Willamette? I see Charley a lot driving around in that area and seems to have a lot of success. Thanks!

Hey John my name is Will. Ive watched a few of your videos and i gotta say i can only dream of fighting a few of these sturgeon. I was wondering, i am 17 and have a budget of about $4-500 on a good sturgeon rod and reel, i was wondering maybe you might have some recomendations for a good rod and reel to use in deltas and more for bank sturgeon fishing? I hope to hear some input:)thank you:)

Wow those baits are huge. I caught two over 8 feet out of the Fraser River a couple of weeks ago on a 1 1/2" long piece of lamprey eel.

I fish for them all the time. Grizzly island Ca. You can keep three per year; they have to be between 40"-60" from nose to fork in the tail, barbless single hook on a leader no less than 18" and they have to be the white species. Green sturgeon however are illegal to obtain.

Just a question about the Rig you are using. Isn't that a sturgeon death trap if the weight get stuck and the main line breaks and leaves that big weight attached to the bottom of the river stuck? It looks like it to me. That is why people put the weight on the main line. Right? Just saying.

My only question is, how do they bite? I wish the video showed how they bite. Are the big sturgeon gentle biters like the smaller ones? I caught a 57 inch sturgeon recently and it didn't bite hard. Do those big one bite harder?
