I disagree that it's a kids film, at least, not a good one. Kids films don't have long drawn out political debates and convoluted, incomprehensible plots about trade disputes. It's perfectly possible to make a movie for children that doesn't insult their intelligence with things like Jar-Jar and there is no reason you can't make a good movie for both kids and adults. I don't see why people would take it out on him, he was a little kid ffs, what did you expect him to do with that script?
Okay, yes. Lloyds performance was bad. But Lucas is so blatantly to blame, because despite his somewhat mediocre talent for thinking up the first concept of SW, his directing and screenwriting is some of the worst in cinematic history. The only reason why the original SW movies did so well is because he had more people challenging him, more people putting in their individual ideas and more people having a better understanding of SW and the characters than even he does, While Ep 1 was basically just a money-making plan with a team of greedy, uncreative people. Lloyd wasn't the only cast member giving off a terrible performance and we all know it, even Liam Neeson and Samuel L Jackson were painfully awful and bland, but unfortunately while they still had strong careers, Lloyd was an easy target and I feel so bad for him, I can hardly imagine what he went through. I just hope he does well in the film industry in the future.
Read this on Wikipedia: "Lloyd claimed in a 2012 interview that director George Lucas ruined his childhood and his acting career, and that Lloyd destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia out of anger toward the film." Man, that's depressing. He's suppressing his true feelings of animosity towards the film (episode 1) and George Lucas here; Same in other interviews. Obviously, it's to avoid upsetting fans, and to not come across as a bitter, ungrateful person.
Jake Lloyd's friggin AWESOME!!!! Me and my bros loved him in Ep 1. Hope he still keeps in touch with George Lucas, the dude could open A LOT of doors for him.
I don't think Jake was bad. He did exactly what I would do if I were a kid in Anakin's position, being picked up by a pair of Jedi and thrust into a galactic conflict. I'd be scared, thrilled, naive, stubborn, and maybe even a little whiny at times. In a way, he was perfect.
I wonder if Warwick Davis had a similar experience? He's only ever had positive things to say about his experience on Return of the Jedi. So why was it such a shit experience for this kid?

Poor kid. He was only in a movie for fuck's sake. A bad movie, but still, no one deserves this.
I really like this guy. It seems like his difficult past has made him into a very intelligent, sensitive dude. Right on, man.
man, Lucas really fucked up this kid´s life with his poor script.
He still has his sanity. That's good!
It's really sad how all of the torment has made him into a really socially awkward person.

It seems like SW really damaged his life . . . He's very much locked in himself.
The Phantom Menace is for children. Of course, All that fucking boring political talk must've been amazing for children to watch.

It's like when people blamed Rebecca Black as if she wrote the "Friday" lyrics just because she wanted to pretend she was famous for a day of acting.
give this guy a black trench coat and a shotgun

Shame that he had some trouble from it. On the other hand, "I was Darth Vader" isn't the worst pick-up line in history.
4:15 These are always the words of a man filled with regret.

Imagine if this is what Anakin had looked like as an adult. Holy shit… lol

Coruscant?
