Airliners are designed to withstand impacts with large birds such as Geese, I'm pretty sure that these civilian drones have far less mass and weight. There should probably be avoidance systems put in place in the drones and regulations to keep them away from airports and flight paths.
So if a simple drone got so close to crashing with an airplane, why do terrorists go to such difficult lengths of bringing the bomb through airport security, onto it when they could just target it during take off? Airports need air defense like the White House, just saying.

It's not rocket science, just legislate that drones can't fly within 1km of an airport. Drones are of no more danger to helicopters and plains that remote control cars are a danger to regular vehicles.

How is this a huge threat? How many people are hurt or inconvenienced every year? In comparison how many people die in plane crashes?
Ban all citizens from owning drones. This has to happen because they are too damn stupid to realize the hundreds of lives they put in danger.
