Younger squad looked better than the main team tbh. Always looking to play it forward etc. Periera is quality on the ball. Darmian was great – always in the right place. As soon as Valencia came on we had trouble on the right side. Anyway I hope Lvgs not thinking about playing Blind CB in the BPL. Because that would be a mistake. Also people are shocked with this 442. Lvg played this at Bayern when 433 wasn't working out. Actually you could say we played it last season. The LCM acts as a secondary striker. But I dont get the point in purchasing both schniederlin schweinsteiger is you play a two man midfield. Its a waste of Herrera/Carrick. All in all a good game. Glad to see we start passing forward more and taking more risks on the ball. Hope it carries on to Tottenham game.
I was so amazed with the youngsters, they really know how to keep the game moving. Darmian was definitely my standout player, along with De Gea (I hope he stays), but he did get lucky with the two shots off the iron. Great goal from januzaj, but I still think he needs to be loaned.
I think that it a good performance, Darmian was excellent MOTM for me too Schneiderlin was poor on the ball, but good defensively I hope Pereira, Lindgard and Herrera get more playing time vs PSG Mata and Memphis swap needs to happen , I just don't understand LVG on this We better not sale Di Maria for less than the 60 mil we paid !!!
Despite Mata's excellent individual quality, he is actually one of the reason we play harmless possession football. He almost always opts to pass sideways rather than forward. He is a top class playmaker, he should be able to make top class decisions and top class passes that split defenses. Yet so far during his time with us He hasn't been doing that. In this game alone there were 3 or 4 counter attacks which Mata broke by opting to pass sideways instead of making a last defense splitting pass when Rooney and Depay already make their runs. Our strikers are already starved of quality supplies. Mata needs to up his game to his standard like when he was at Chelsea.
I'm not convinced yet, unless we get 10 points or more from our first 5 games there's not much difference from last season, we played some great football on tour last year but come the first few games of the season we were piss poor, we need a couple more signings, a centre back and a striker and a possibly a change in "philosophy".
Memphis needs to be on the wing. The youth players need to be given a chance and should hopefully break into the first team. We don't need a replacement for Angel Di Maria.
Why is everybody pushing ADM through the door before he even leaves, I take no notice of paper talk until it's a done deal, so much rumours in papers now a days for us to start slagging off our players when the player himself hasn't said he wants to leave.
