Dude can smoke a damn cigarette, boy! If there was an Emmy category for best pull on a cig, he'd take the trophy.

As strange as this sounds, Rust made me feel less alone in the world. I think many of us struggle with existentialism and never express it to one another or we suppress it with religion.

I loved the 95 Cohle. Yes, he was calm, but the way McConaughey played him, he had an intensity right out of the gate that just made me want to watch him, to see what Cohle could be thinking and how and why. He was brilliantly deep. Just fascinating to watch him really. I loved the entire progression, all three time periods were home runs.

He went from an actor I liked in a time to kill, to an actor I completely wrote off because I thought he had sold out to rom-coms, to making me shut the hell up and just marvel at how damn good he is in true detective. It's like I got a great actor back.

His swag and demeanor reminds me of that one cool college professor you had that you just completely get attached with and always looked forward to be in his class. He has this warm normal guy feel to him unlike some other D-bag actors in his caliber. I got to be honest I misjudged him to be one of them jerk-off actors on the red carpet on Oscar night. Boy was I wrong. Sorry Mr. McConaughey Sir.

McConaughey's acting has gone through the stratosphere this past year. Wolf of Wall Street – excellent role, stole the scene. Dallas Buyers Club – phenomenal performance, both physically and mentally. True Detective – slow burning brilliance. Thumbs up to you Mr McConaughey. I salute you!

How do you go from Matthew to Vince Vaughn? I'm sorry but I don't respect the strategy here, they had something really special with the cast from the first season..8 episodes wasn't enough

I never imagined I'd have a competitor for favorite actor over Tom Hanks, but McConaughey's work lately is nothing short of brilliant.
