Thank the Lord that Austin Dillon is okay; I had no clue what to suspect and I'm sure it had everyone in the racing community skipping a beat.. Dale Jr. and Jimmie Johnson seemed emotional when talking about it as both of them have lost friends or family in NASCAR.
I've been a NASCAR fan since the early 80's and have seen all kinds of different wrecks, Austin Dillion's wreck last night (this morning) is without a doubt the most devastating wreck I've ever seen. I thought for sure he was either dead or was mangled as bad as his car was. It was Dale Earnhardt's jr. crew who was first on the scene, started giving the thumbs up indicating he was OK, I couldn't believe it. What makes & sets Dillon's wreck apart from all other wrecks is, he was going around 195 MPH when the wreck stated & may have lost 5 MPH when he hit the catch fence. The spacing between the poles on that fence is around 15 feet, Dillon went from 190 MPH to a DEAD STOP in a matter of 30 feet. As if that wasn't enough Brad Keselowski comes along and clips the read of his upside down car at over 100 mph. Once freed from what was left of his car he "walks away" virtually unscathed. What I just witnessed was a Miracle. With all the flaws in NASCAR (and there is a lot of them) they got the safety issue right, for both the driver & fans.
The person who went oh my god sounds like Denny Hamiln if you look at where he was positioned at that time he was facing backwards and could see the car… Just a thought
I don't wanna see anybody die or get hurt during these events. That was the worst crash I've seen a driver walk away from. Thank you for the soft walls, the safety net, and the Hans Device! Never Too Safe!
pit crews running onto a live race track with tony the scorpion stewart in the race,oh how fast people forget what tony the scorpion stewart did to kevin ward jr.
Dale Earnhardt Sr. was looking down and looking out for everyone. That was very classy of the other pit crews to run out and check on Dillon. I'm relieved nobody was hurt, drivers or fans.
Show a non-racing fan this crash and Dale's crash side by side and have them decide which one was fatal, 10 out of 10 times they'd choose this as the fatal accident. Great job NASCAR, saving lives.
Just a testament to the technology in today's cars…literally was just a cage left around him after the crash and he gets out and walks away….absolutely incredible
Glad that everyone was okay. That would have been a wreck that would have seriously injured or killed Austin Dillon and injure several more fans 20 years ago. That catch fence and roll cage really held up well.
You couldn't have scripted NBC's return to NASCAR coverage better than this. An emotional roller coaster to say the least.

Something I loved seeing was how other teams crew members ran to the car faster then the safety workers did.perfect example of how NASCAR is a family.
still want to know how Brad spun

Can anyone tell what driver (or maybe crew crief/spotter) said "Oh my god" on the radio?
Can't wait for Radioactive on this!

I was sitting there and when I saw his car go up i first thought "oh my god one of my favorite drivers is dead!" I'm so freakin glad Austin is okay!
2:22 Look at that fence…..
Thanks for posting, I went to NASCAR home page and it sucked as always.
