Not only that, but when the Dawgs beat the Wolverwienies that year (SC)UM had just beaten Miami and hadn't lost a home non-conference game since the '60s. The Dawgs held them to 3 points in "The Big House" until the last minute of the game. By the time pussy BYU got their chance at Miss-again the Wolverwienies were a mere 6 – 5, had lost the quarterback they started the season with, and basically weren't the same team. I would have liked to see BYU go into Ann Arbor the second week of the season
Yeah, we lost all our star players from the 1984 team, we lost Jacque Robinson, Ron Holmes, Tim Meamber, Fred Small, Danny Greene, Mark Pattison and Vestee Jackson just to name a few. Also, we not only beat you in 1986, we killed you guys in 1997, then yet again in 1998. The huskies were without a doubt the national champs that year.
Sorry,Washington couldn't win the Pac 10 in '84. When you FAIL to win your conference, you have no business crying about the polls. None of the Huskies fans here want to talk about that. They lost 16-7 to a mediocre USC team, ergo USC won the conference and played in the Rose Bowl.
I'm not a BYU fan, but they had a better year than Washington in '84.
They didn't "defend" squat. The two teams weren't the same and the Dawgs lost the most players after 1984. The Dawgs kicked BYU's ass in 1986 so the Cougars didn't have squat to say after that. F*ck BYU and all pussy teams that play no good teams every season and then talk about how great they are.
I understand the point you're making regarding UW losing to USC. But, USC defeating a 6-5 MICH team in a bowl game leaves a lot to be desired for a national champ. If they were playing a team with a better record, I think folks would feel better about it. But, that MICH team was not great. BYU took care of business, true. However, I can't recall a champ playing a team barely .500 in a bowl game. I'm sure you haven't seen it either because it hasn't been done, except then.
@kidpoker76 USC lost 2 home games that year: a 23-3 blow out loss to LSU and a 19-7 loss to Gerry Faust's Fighting Irish. That's mediocrity. USC was beaten by UCLA(who also lost to Oregon and Stanford that year) 29-10 in the season finale. So I stand by my "mediocre" comment.
And I'll say it again, Washington didn't win their conference in '84.
All of the above factored in to Washington being a good team, but no better than a solid #2.
BYU won NOTHING in 1984. They were VOTED as the best team in the country when they didn't deserve it. F*ck BYU.
well thanks for reading our boards all the same! i'm sure your team has one a national championship since mine. mwah!
what the heck ever happened to jerry adams?

Mutual respect always, Cornhuskers.

No, that's correct. You're just a BYU d*cklicker.
Good luck next season and take care.
@rb365339 thats cool. ive met him like once and i was really little when i met him.
Washington pummels BYU in 1984 on a neutral field.
Biggest joke of a national champion ever.
Conrats to BYU for the MNC. 1984.
NOOOO.

Byu played UW in 1985 and won 31-3. They defended their title.
Undeserved. No WAY the BYU Cougars finish unbeaten if they play in a REAL football conference. BYU football SUCKS

Agree, screw these BCS loving douches.
BYU won it all in '84.
Utah won this yr.
