wenger was criticised for selling van persie to united because it 'gave them the title'. apparently no decent manager would allow one of his club's rivals to acquire a player who would seriously improve their team (even though it happens all the time in other countries).
in reality, it is probable that wenger found himself in exactly the same position as mourinho. he knew van persie would walk at the end of his contract. he knew he had been a good servant, and probably liked him as a person. so he decided to agree to his wishes and get the best fee possible for him, even though he probably would rather not have sold him to united.
this is a great deal for arsenal. you lot are going to be title contenders next season with this goalie no doubt. was hoping he would replace de gea for united but oh well.

If Wenger comes out and says giroud and Walcott are good enough everyone can kiss challenging for the title away. It makes no sense buying a world class keeper to help us to not concede goals but the striker is wasting changes like giroud.
Cech alone won`t win us the league…We need a back up DM or preferably a better first choice (not that I complain about Coquelin) and a striker who`s obviously better than Giorud in the final third.
