Magnificiant island ! My island. a mix of all the cultures of the world where many religion live peacefully together. Exeptional for that ! People are welcoming. So much variety of landscape in a small place. More than 100 microclimate ! Very montaineous region, this volcanic island (active volcano with wonderfull eruptions) is a gift from nature and the culture here is something to experience.
The only thing you have to be aware of is: SWIMMING OUTSIDE THE SMALL LAGOONS (70cm of depth) IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN DUE TO THE RISING SHARK ATTACKS SINCE 4 YEARS (1 every 3 months). All nautical activities are banned outside lagoons. Don't mess with that, we have in less than 40 km of coast the highest rate of fatal shark attack of the world despite the fact that there is only a few number of people going sometimes out of the lagoon. We take 50% of all the fatal shark attacks on the planet !!!
If you know that & never get outside the lagoon, it's OK. Because many times, for too many people, the first time out in those waters was the last of their lives. If you love mountain hiking, this is definetely your place for hollidays !

Many sharks on the waters off of this island have killed surfers. Be careful and follow the beach rules. The island looks amazing!
