Child neglect. I saw this on the news and almost immediately started dying of laughter.

When a story surfaces, news stations have the power to influence how the situation is perceived by the masses. Though their perspective isn't accepted by everyone, it IS accepted by the majority. This story SHOULD have been introduced COMPLETELY different. When any child is found alone and unsupervised the first thing that's thought by any logical people is "Where are the parents?". These parents should be handled equally as those parents that have abandoned their children in a dumpster somewhere on the other side of town.

Half way through this whole thing I started to think about how differently this would have been portrayed if it was Mexican or African parents that had allowed their underage young to carelessly choose to engage in idiotic activity. Would the news STILL have made it as heart warming as a Hollywood movie about a character that's lost and is trying to make it back home?

…for all the trolls out there, let me hysterically laugh along with you now for your comments about how this wouldn't happen to an African or Mexican family because "they're so poor they can barely afford a boat made out of paper".
