I think Sia's voice is very very powerful. And although she has brought some more attention to herself by hiding her face.. I'm glad she really wants people to focus on her music. Nowadays a lot of pop culture focuses on how everything looks and it's sad that some people only care about that. I like to listen to music like this that has meaning to it and is powerful as I said. I find songs about drugs and girls and sex very very pointless and not makeup…. Good Job, Sia.
My interpretation is quite literal: older women, taller women, bigger and generally less 'attractive' girls are, quite like all men, made to feel trivial when they cry, so they hold in their tears, but nobody is immune to the pain of life, so sometimes they do break down.
But you rarely see things like that on the screen, probably because someone decided that we looked too ugly crying. And I feel that it makes the masses think that we un-pretty girls and women don't actually take offense at the things people say, and don't care what people think, because we've taught ourselves to keep it all inside to the point of breaking down. It's painful.
Maybe one day we'll be treated like we actually matter, like we, as beautiful, complex human souls, actually exist.
Thank you Sia. It's truly the first time I've ever heard a song refer to something remotely referring to this.
"No time for love, no time for hate, no drama, no time for games. Tough girl whose soul aches.I may cry, ruining my makeup/ Wash away all the things you've taken and I don't care if I don't look pretty. Big girls cry when their hearts are breaking. Tough girl, I'm in pain. It's lonely at the top. Blackouts and airplanes,I still pour you a glass of champagne"
The lyrics are so poignant and haunting. Sia is an astounding song writer. Goosebumps every time.

Let's just take a moment of silence for the last song Sia will feature Maddie in.
