You know, the lines and expressions on Pearl's face (like 1:42, 2:01) makes it look like she has an addiction or something. As if being Sardonyx feels so good for her, that she has trouble quitting.
With every passing episode, we see more of who Pearl really is, and she is definitely pretty fucked up.
But I want to hope that she will get better at coping with Rose's loss, be honest with her feelings through self-reflection, and finally stop projecting her idealized vision of Rose onto Steven.
If character development is possible for Amethyst, then it's possible for Pearl!
If anything, Garnet should realize how much Amethyst and Pearl are struggling not having the same support Garnet has. Garnet is the embodiment of 2 gem's love so she has some stability and comfort to move on from Rose's departure. Pearl and Amethyst do not have that same system, and for them, fusing is an experience that they don't get to take part in too often.

I read a leak before this episode came out, perfectly matching the entire episode. Except for on thing. Apparently, instead of Garnet and Amethyst forming into Sugilite, Garnet was actually going to DEFUSE! So….could that have been a rough draft or something?

Man, you really have to feel for Garnet. Pearl, too, yeah, but Garnet man. Garnet IS a fusion. It's her entire being. Fusion is important to her, and to find out she was tricked and used by Pearl just so Pearl could feel strong as a fusion is just horrible. Also Garnet seemed to have fun fusing with Pearl. We barely see her with that kind of attitude and expression. And then all that happiness turns into feelings of betrayal. I mean, I really felt for Garnet here. Know what I mean?
