They mentioned that Demelza's character in the series was different from the book. Does anyone know in what way? I just wanna know if this newer Poldark is actually more true to the books in terms of Demelza's character. Either way, Demelza in the original series was AWESOME, and I can't really imagine Demelza any other way.
I wondered why Richard Morant who was terrific in series 1 ( and was also a fab 'Flashman' in a BBC adaptation of Tom Brown's Schooldays) didnt continue his role as Dr Enys in series 2 Now I know !!! Dont usually like period drama but I enjoyed Poldark – as a teenager I watched it with my mum on Sunday nights – and now have the DVD's to watch whenever I wish Great cast – sadly some of the actors are no longer with us – gorgeous scenery and a wonderful story
In hindsight its very similar to the Charles and Diana and Camilla love triangle! I loved this series as a ten year old in New Zealand. I was so sad to hear Angharad Rees died in 2012.
The new series is very good, but in all honesty it does not compare to the original with Robin Ellis. There are no details like there was in the original.. that's missing.
One of my first TV crushes was Robin Ellis as Ross Poldark. They shot some of it in Southern NH and I was so disappointed that my dad – who did some security on the site – wouldn't get me his autograph. And Mr Darcy – you're a weenie next to Ross Poldark!
What did the narrator say at 3:30….(The Forsyte Saga and)….."The Need in Line" from the 1970s?

Robin Ellis looks like Dustin Hoffman…
Among the best & memorable British TV series

I loved Robin Ellis, named my son Robin after him. Have never been forgiven -lol.
My favorite!
I'm going to start watching this alongside the current remake. Interested to see how they compare.
Wonderful series! Robin Ellis….one of the sexiest men on earth!
Brilliant British Drama & Soundtrack, i was in love with Verity [Norma Streader] when i was young, she was my type alright.

I admit it. I swooned.

Captain Poldark miss it!
I think the 1970's were when television really reached its peak. Wouldn't it be fantastic if they managed to do as well again?
Ah yes, I remember Poldark and Demelza, and even saw Robin Ellis doing narrations at a church in Ipswich!
