I saw the Dead countless times including the Fillmore East and Watkins Glen, some nights they were great, some nights pretty good, some nights not so good, but I have to say this is a great performance. They were a different band after Pigpen of course, but this is as good as it got here with the original band. I dig these versions of El Paso and Ramble On Rose. Thanks for sharing VoodooNola!
Anyone know why I missed the "knife in the back" part of He's Gone? Did I miss it? Did they miss it? Lol…or wasnt it added yet? Felt anticlimactic without it…
Yes, definitely a Gibson ES-345. And the 335, 345, 347, and 355 all were of the exact same body dimensions. The coil tap one comment referred to is NOT on a 345, but on a 347. Differences: ES-335 same electronics as Les Paul, dot (later small block) inlay on rosewood fingerboard, and small crown headstock inlay. 345, addition of a 6-position "varitone" switch, and double parallelogram inlay also on a rosewood fingerboard and crown headstock. 347, generally produced with gold plating, coil tap, large block inlay, and ebony fingerboard and crown headstock. 355 (top of the line) gold plating, varitone, stereo wiring, large block inlay on ebony fingerboard, and split diamond headstock inlay.
I remember watching the Dead on TV when I was a teenager, and a naked girl was dancing on the stage. Recently I discussed with a friend if she was part of the band or just somebody who entered the stage for fun – in the spirit of the time
The single drummer/Keith years were the absolute best. Especially 1972. For me it was the best year of the Dead.
i love the way this video was shot, it's just about perfect, no bullshit crazy camera moves or fast editing, just letting the playing speak for itself
Anyone care for a TRIP through time?
Where was Donna during this show, she does not make an appearance?
im just a new Dead fan, but does this feel rushed to anyone else? educate me.

BOBBY OH MY GOD YOU ARE SO BEAUTIFUL NOTICE ME SENPAI SLAYYYYYYYYYYYY
Phil is hilarious – looks like he's wrestling an alligator playing that bass……
Pigpen smoking behind his organ. Priceless!
Before the cocaine really came forward and paralyzed Jerry's playing IMHO. .weed, acid, mushrooms and heroin fit them like a glove musically.
PIG! Hey, thanks for posting this. Excellent video and sound. '72 what a year for the Dead!
It was a much better time…too bad I was born 22 years after this show. RIP musicianship, artistry and real music, gone but not forgotten.
(26:17 you can see the Dead logo on the kick bass vibrate…and I am not stoned right now, I'm at work.)
HAHAHA I love Bobby forgetting his verse at 1:07:35
