Nascar is their own worst enemy, they went mainstream and then they started rigging races. Now it's crap. You don't see F1 or Indy car having chases for championships.
Nascar does NOT!! rig NO races!! just your ignorance that makes you come up with crap like that!! obviously motorsports is not something you really enjoy!! and your stupid ass remark about F-1 and INDY crap racing!! thay are not anythng like the real RACING!! in nascar.
This was my first NASCAR race as an adult. It was July 31 1988 and was a just a few days before my 20th birthday. I was instantly hooked on Superspeedway Racing. Only been back once again.Maybethis year I will do the 650 miles again.
In terms of the "modern" era (as in post Bobby Allison's crash) of restrictor plates in Nascar, then this would be the second plate race at Talladega. The first would be the Winston 500 that was run earlier in the season this (1988) year. ;^)

1988: The beginning of the end for real racing on superspeedways in NASCAR. Damn restrictor plates.

They cut racing back to caution and added pit road speed limits to limit accidents and possible deaths. You want racers to die?
Yes it was Mike Helton he was working at Talladega at the time
RIP Raymond Beadle
wow 6:07 onboard cam.. It`s rotating! and still we don`t see this in formula 1.
Sure this was great racing, but this was also back when deaths were pretty much expected… it was just a matter of "who's next"
damn good race, incredible finish!
at 1:20.00, that is a proper lug nut call, not this one lug nut wasn't properly tightened bullshit
Can't help but correct Squier at the end – "Coming down to the finish of the Talladega 500, Ashland Ohio's Tim Richmond on the point."
If dale earnhart was still alive and wanted to race he wouldnt drive the crap gen 6 car that nascar uses now
Kenny Schraders first ever victory in the Cup Series for Rick Hendrick.
see at 11:17, even back then the two car tandem worked
Helton looks exactly the same today.
Yeah, the sound, the engines, the drivers, the cars, THIS IS A RACE!!!
Impressive!! ^^
i agree. this is real cowboy racing. we have corporate racing today.
I would take this racing anyday. So awesome, and so much better than 2012's races.
