I want to see the film but I can't help but think that the trailer has given way too much away. The guy's knocked back down, wife and child taken, left with nothing, comes back to win. Film over. Films are HOW a story is told yes but this trailer just gave away the entire film anyway.
So the trailer spoils everything except the "does he win the fight" part at the end?
I know there's no way he doesn't get custody of the little girl. Maybe they'll try to be edgy and make him lose the fight but he still manages to get custody of the girl.
You know what would be edgy, Jake dies in the ring halfway through the movie, little girl grows up in foster home and commits suicide at the end of the movie. That would be hipsterifically edgy. Or even better, he gets hit on the back of the head, and suffers from permanent brain damage and becomes a vegetable and his daughter grows up and the rest of the movie is this grueling day by day life of the daughter having to take care of a disabled father and then she ends up smothering him with a pillow. What do you guys think?
As much as I love Gyllenhaal, I´m kinda fed up with those sports-drama-boxer-movies right now. THe Fighter, Warrior, Million DOllar Baby. Its enough. Basically, its always the same.
