A Wimbledon classic. I never get tired of watching this one. I remember how all the commentators were like Sharapova can't be stopped and Venus had no chance before the match. Well she proved them wrong and blew her away. You never doubted a Williams sister's ability in their primes. Sublime tennis from Venus.

Serena, Justine, Venus, Clijsters. Sharapova lost to all four of the year's eventual Slam winners that season. Stunned nobody in her camp figured the book was out on her and used the offseason as the chance to retool her game. A simple strategy of trying to outhit your opponent might work against 90% of the tour when you know how to compete as Masha does. But she had to know simply winning Wimbledon in '04 didn't make her the best player day-in, day-out with such a one-dimensional game that better players exploited.

Seriously what a match. This is amazing the shots and the rallies. Really shows what it takes to be a top tennis player. A showcase of good serving shots and movement. We take matches like this for granted. This is why I'm a massive serena fan. She is great and everything about her is good and unbeatable on her days. Venus and maria are deffs top 15 of all time and I'm not a maria fan but I can appreciate that she was amazing in her prime. I reckon now she's going through a rough patch and plays on and off at times

Imagine how more Titles Venus would have won if Serena was not playing. She met Serena I believe 8 times in the Finals and not to mention when they played each other in the same draw of the tournament.

This match shows just how Serena and Venus changed the game – their movement. Defense to offense. Sharapova couldn't hit a ball that Venus couldn't track down and send back with something on it. Side to side – up and back – Venus could get to a ball and win the point. A hundred girls can hit the ball hard – but few of them have the wheels and athleticism to turn a point around with one shot. That's what Venus did best at her prime. It's tough watching her sometimes today because she has lost a step, but even at 34 you can see flashes of her old self.

I thought I would never hear the day when I didn't hear Maria Sharapova's shrieks? Grunts? This proves that she doesn't "need" to do it.

I was anticipating this match so bad, I just remember watching every single point stuck to the television, this match and the Serena-Sharapova semifinal of the Australian Open of the same year, were some of the best matches I've ever seen.

I really suffer seeing this both play. They are my favourites female tennis players ever, i growed up with them. And i don't know why Maria and Venus can't get along well, Maria never had a good relationship with the Williams Sisters, especially with Serena. I hate their handshakes too, cold and bitchy.

The kind of tennis that Venus played here is matched by no other player in the history of the game, except for Serena. Why on earth didn't she keep this level up after this tournament. She could have won so much more. I will never forget this match because it was so important to and for Venus. It was awesome to watch as a Venus fan.
